 Chris earned his Chemistry B.S. at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2015. During his undergraduate studies he used an array of surface science techniques to determine the catalytic activity and structure of nanoparticle metal and metal oxide clusters supported on model single crystal surfaces under ultra high vacuum (UHV) conditions. These investigative surface techniques include Temperature Programmed Desorption/Reaction (TPD/R), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES).  
  
Chris started his graduate research in the Friend group at Harvard University in 2015. As a graduate student in the Friend lab, Chris is focused on performing model crystal studies to gain knowledge of the fundamental details of catalytic oxidation reactions. He is currently conducting model crystal studies on Au (110) using STM to probe adsorbate ordering and surface substitution reactions.
