Mathilde obtained her PhD in Chemistry at the University of Lyon, France. She was part of the Catalyst and Process Engineering group led by Dr. David Farrusseng at the Institute of Researches on Catalysis and Environment (IRCELyon). Her doctoral work aimed to demonstrate the production of hydrogen from autothermal reforming of biogas. She implemented a 6-parallel flow reactor set-up for high-throughput screening of nickel and rhodium based catalysts. She synthesized catalysts and used different characterization techniques to understand their catalytic activity and deactivation.

In the Friend Group, she is investigating dilute alloy catalysts for selective oxidation and selective hydrogenation reactions in both the vapor phase and the liquid phase.
